A new calendar year has begun! The weather may be cold outside but there is a warmth of spirit within our church. We are a church family, with emphasis on the word family. We aren't perfect but we try to be there for each other when needed. We also want to be there for our community. Our Sunday school hour is now aptly named Mission Hour. Each month the Sunday school has a project, chosen by the kids, to do something special for someone else. In the past year, they have honored the volunteer firemen, brought food and stocked shelves at the food pantry, provided backpacks stocked with school supplies for kids that needed them, bought pet supplies for a member who lost household goods in a fire, and have infected the whole congregation with their enthusiasm.
One favorite event is Friendship Sunday! Everyone, adults as well, are encouraged to bring a friend for Mission Hour and morning worship. Last year, the kids had great fun with slingshots and paintballs-think David and Goliath. This year, the activity is still being planned but the date is set-February 13th! The congregation will provide a potluck dinner after worship so we invite everyone to come and join us that day.
